Summary

The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service at Salisbury consists of full-time pathologists, a Lab Manager, laboratory medical technologists and technicians at supervisory and bench levels, phlebotomists, and clerical and support staff. Salisbury Healthcare System has three other labs; two Health Care Centers (HCC) located in South Charlotte and Kernersville, NC and a community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC) located in North Charlotte, NC. The incumbent reports to the Facility Chief of Staff.

Duties
----------
The Associate Chief of Staff/Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (ACOS/P&LM) has overall responsibility and accountability for implementation and maintenance of new and established policies and for providing overall direction in the continuing operation of the service line. The incumbent monitors and ensures medical staff. Compliance with agency regulations, medical staff bylaws, The Joint Commission standards, College of American Pathology (CAP) accreditation requirements, and other appropriate regulations.
- The incumbent directly and indirectly supervises an interdisciplinary staff of physicians, laboratory technologists and technicians, phlebotomists, and other clerical and support staff.
- The ACOS P&LM responsibilities include oversight of and regular visits to all laboratories in each of the Salisbury Healthcare System sites of care.
